Meet Reece: The Events Manager Bringing Ideas to Life at Sustain Farm Shop & Café

If you’ve ever been to an event at Sustain Farm Shop & Café, chances are you’ve already experienced a bit of Reece’s magic.

As the Events Manager, and one of the very first members of the team when Sustain opened its doors on Easter Weekend 2024, Reece has had a hand in almost every element of the bustling farm shop, café, and family destination.

 

From helping in the kitchen to supporting the animals and welcoming guests front-of-house, he’s been part of the journey from day one. And it’s clear he loves it.

 

A Job That’s All About People

 

Ask Reece what he enjoys most, and the answer comes easily: seeing visitors happy.

 

Whether it's families spending the day in the play barn, children meeting the animals, or guests celebrating a special occasion, he finds enormous joy in watching people make memories at Sustain.

“It’s always rewarding seeing people have a great time here,” he says. And with the range of events he helps run, there’s always something to look forward to.

 

From Parties to Markets. He Does It All

Reece plays a lead role in planning and managing almost every event on site, including:

• Children’s parties
• Weddings and family celebrations
• Wakes
• Seasonal markets
• Corporate events
• Community activities

“If it’s happening at Sustain, I’m usually involved somewhere,” and judging by the farm shop’s busy calendar, that’s no small job.

 

His favourite part? Turning a small idea into something unforgettable. Bringing concepts to life and watching them unfold on the day is where he truly lights up.

A Day in the Life

“Hectic - in a good way,” is how Reece sums up his average day.

 

You might find him:

• Organising bookings
• Helping with the animals
• Designing event posters
• Setting up equipment
• Meeting new collaborators
• Greeting customers

“No two days are the same,” he says. “And that’s what I love about it.”

 

And When He's Not at Sustain…

Reece keeps it simple:

“When I’m not at work, I’m usually with my better half — she keeps me entertained and pretends she’s not tired of me. I’m also a big fan of good food, fresh air, and anything that doesn’t involve emails.”

Relatable.

 

Looking Ahead

Christmas is always a highlight, but I’m also really excited for our Country Western Party, Burns Night in January, and the new focus we’re putting into growing our corporate events.
