REACTION: TAYLOR CURRAN SIGNS FOR SWINDON TOWN

TAYLOR CURRAN became Swindon Town’s sixth signing of the January transfer window as the defender joined the Wiltshire club on a two-and-a-half year deal from Southend United yesterday.

Having spent the majority of this season on loan at non-league side Braintree Town and without a single first-team appearance during his time at Southend, the 18-year-olds signature came as a surprise to many Swindon fans.

Signing on an initial deal for an undisclosed fee that will keep the centre-back at the County Ground until 2021, Curran is expected to provide back-up for Town’s defence.

Speaking to the clubs official website following the move, Curran said:

“I’m looking forward to it – I got told on Friday that it was happening and it’s just been about getting it done since then.

"I spoke to my agent and Ricky Duncan (Southend Under-23s manager) and we thought it was the best move for me.

“I’m still 18 so it’s pretty unbelievable and I’m just really over the moon.”

Curran later took to social media to share his enjoyment with his 336 Twitter followers, posting on the social media platform:
