Virtue aiming to kick on as part of Swindon Town squad
New signing Matty Virtue is aiming to kick-on at Swindon Town after agreeing a two-year contract with the club.
The 29-year-old midfielder arrives at the Nigel Eady County Ground following a two-season spell at Fleetwood Town.
He made 89 appearances for Fleetwood, contributing towards a combined 19 goals and assists before linking up with Ian Holloway’s side.
On joining Swindon Town ahead of pre-season, he said: “It’s always nice to come back in.
“There’s always a bit of nerves meeting a new set of lads and a new staff, but they’ve all been really helpful and accommodating and I’m looking forward to kicking on.

“Obviously there’s one aim everyone knows it, and you want to be successful in your football career, the club wants to be successful, so why would I not want to join.”
Virtue spent the early stages of his career on the books at Liverpool, before signing for Blackpool in January 2019. He has also had loan spells with Notts County and Lincoln.
Town kick-off their pre-season schedule with a game at Swindon Supermarine on Saturday (midday).
