'Top professional' Tafazolli latest Swindon Town player to pen new deal

Boss Ian Holloway described as a “top professional” centre-back Ryan Tafazolli, after he signed a fresh deal for the 2026/27 campaign.

The defender played 24 times in all competitions for Town this season, as they narrowly missed out on a play-off place in League Two. He netted in games against Fleetwood and Gillingham.

Speaking about retaining the 34-year-old, Holloway told the club website: “Ryan is a top professional and someone who brings so much to this football club.

“His experience, leadership, and calmness are hugely important for us, and you can see the impact he has on the players around him every single day.

“He’s a real leader both on and off the pitch and having characters like Ryan in your squad is absolutely vital.

“I’m delighted he’s staying with us because he’ll play a massive role in what we’re trying to achieve moving forward.”

The news comes after captain Ollie Clarke also signed a new contract at the Nigel Eady County Ground for next season.

Holloway added: “Ollie is exactly the sort of character you want around your football club. He gives everything every single day, drives standards within the group, and his experience is incredibly important for us both on and off the pitch.

“His commitment to the club has been first-class since I came in. I’m delighted we’ll have him with us moving forward because players like Ollie are vital to what we’re trying to build here at Swindon Town.”

The club have also confirmed goalkeeper Lewis Ward’s option on his contract has been triggered, keeping him at Swindon Town next season.
