Despite being without Finnish import Matias Perkkio and defenseman Joe Baird, the 'Cats held their own as they took on the Phantoms on the road. The night opened well for the home side, who netted the only goal of the first period with an accurate attempt from forward Tom Carlon.
A fairly even battle led the game into a close second period, of which would hold the next defining goal. In response to their earlier tally, Peterborough soon doubled their lead as veteran forward Jeff Glowa found his way past 'Cat netminder Dean Skinns for a second goal.
The rest of the period would see both netminders tested throughout however with neither backing down, the two sides made their way into a third period and one that would have Swindon pushing forward in the hunt for a replying goal.
Despite being a minute from time, the Wildcats did eventually find that goal as import Michal Kapicka linked up with Aaron Nell to half the home side's lead and find a way past netminder Damien King. However with time against them the Swindon Wildcats could do little as the clock wound down and with it, gave the Peterborough Phantoms their first win of the season.
The Swindon Wildcats will now be looking for a quick turn of results as they take on the Telford Tigers this weekend at the normally time of 5:45pm.
Final Score: Peterborough Phantoms 2 - 1 Swindon Wildcats
Man of the Match: PET - King / SWI - Skinns
