Holloway 'reasonably pleased' with point as Swindon Town reach League Two summit
Boss Ian Holloway described himself as “reasonably pleased” with a point for Swindon Town at Fleetwood – as they reached the summit of League Two.
Ryan Tafazolli’s header from a Darren Oldaker cross put Town in the box seat at Highbury, before Ryan Graydon ensured it was a point apiece with a leveller in first-half stoppage time.
The 1-1 draw did however put Town top of the League Two table, after fellow high-flyers Walsall were beaten 2-0 at home by Colchester United.
And while Holloway was content with his side’s display, he admitted he was left frustrated by the manner of Fleetwood’s leveller.
He said: “I’m reasonably pleased with our performance. If you strip it back and analyse it, we could have been more clinical with the opportunities we had.
“They looked dangerous with a few attacks and the goal they scored was very, very good.
“But it’s difficult for me to say but I was absolutely fuming with something that happened slightly before they got the ball.
“We should have had a free-kick. Ollie Palmer was unbelievably fouled and with the decisions he (referee Richard Eley) was making before that, it was an obvious free-kick to us and he didn’t give it.
“But we could have been better. It could have been a lot worse. They had some pressure on us towards the end. The performance I’m questioning is not my team and that’s the safest way to put it.
“I think a draw is a fair result on the balance of it, when we’re not quite firing on all cylinders with all the injuries and suspensions we have.
“I’m pretty pleased my team looked as good as we did on a day like today.”
Next up for Town is a home game against Grimsby on Saturday, November 22 (3pm).
