Holloway happy to see Town dig in for win against Crawley

Boss Ian Holloway admitted he would have liked to have seen more from his Swindon Town side in their 1-0 home win against Crawley – but admitted “I don't really care right now”.

Town made it back-to-back wins in League Two, thanks to Ollie Palmer’s penalty sealing the spoils at the Nigel Eady County Ground.

Victory ensured Holloway’s side were level on points at the top of League Two with Walsall, only sitting behind the Saddlers on goal difference.

Reflecting on the contest as a whole, Holloway said: “I think we had one (corner) and they had 13 or something like that.

"If you look at their stats, they have dominated most teams in this division, but they have not won.

"It was about us getting through and doing what we needed to do, and we managed to do that.

"I would like for us to do it better and be more convincing, but you know what? I don't really care right now.

"It is absolutely vital that the lads understand that it is not about being good all the time, it is about being able to win when six or seven of you have not played well.

"Can we do everything right in our box and around our area? Can we do that and stop them from scoring?"

He added: "It was minging. I think that our first six touches gave the ball back to them. It looked awful, and I was thinking, 'Here we go.'

"We trained so well on Thursday, so well on Friday, and not so well on Tuesday, as they had a weekend away.

"The spirit was great, and then it looked like we couldn't pass it, but at the end of it, all that matters is we managed to hold on.”

Next up for Town is a Boxing Day clash at MK Dons (3pm).
