Holloway hails forward Holman as Swindon Town win again

Manager Ian Holloway hailed the “wonderful character” of new recruit Fletcher Holman, after he continued his impressive start to life at Swindon Town.

Signed in January from Wolves, the 21-year-old netted the opener after coming off the bench in a 2-0 victory over Newport County at the Nigel Eady County Ground.

A Joe Thomas own goal added a second for Town to wrap up the contest, as they sit second in the League Two table off the back of four straight wins.

Holloway said: “Fletch has come on and made a big difference again.

"He's a really good player, that's why it's his skill set, and he can run with it.

"He runs off the ball, he runs as quickly as (Aaron) Drinan does, and he wants to learn, and he's very clever without the ball.

"He's a quick learner, but we're delighted to have him. He's a wonderful character as well.

"Fletch is exactly what I asked my scouts to find me, to find me someone who could do that. And boy, doesn't he do it.

"He'll be knocking on my door saying, 'Why am I not starting?' But it's about when you need things. Can you change it?"

Next up for Town is a trip to Shrewsbury on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
