Holloway receives touchline ban ahead of crucial Chesterfield showdown

Swindon Town boss Ian Holloway will not be on the touchline for their crucial League Two contest at home against Chesterfield on Saturday (3pm).

Town know they must beat the Spireites at the Nigel Eady Couty ground to book a play-off place in the division – but will be without Holloway in the dugout for that game and potentially the first game of the play-offs.

It comes after the 63-year-old had been given a two-match touchline ban for misconduct following his red card in the Robins' defeat against Colchester United.

A statement said: "An independent Regulatory Commission has imposed a two-match touchline ban and £1,000 fine on Ian Holloway for misconduct during the EFL League Two fixture between Swindon Town and Colchester United on Friday, April 10.

"It was alleged that the manager used offensive, insulting or abusive language around the 82nd minute, which led to his dismissal, and that he allegedly acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards a match official after being sent off.

"Ian Holloway admitted the charges against him, and the Regulatory Commission imposed his sanctions following a hearing."

Holloway had previously stated he was appealing against the red card and had been in contact with the League Managers’ Association.
