Holloway reflects on 'disappointing' defeat at Shrewsbury
Boss Ian Holloway admitted Shrewsbury Town were the better team during Swindon Town’s 3-1 defeat at Greenhous Meadow adding: “It was disappointing from my lot.”
Billy Kirkman’s goal levelled the scoring on the stroke of half-time for the Robins, as he cancelled out Iwan Morgan’s opener for the hosts.
But Shrewsbury sealed the spoils after goals from George Lloyd and Nick Freeman gave them all three points.
Holloway said: "It was disappointing from my lot, and a lot of their team played at eight or nine out of 10 for their level, and I don't think mine did. That is how it is.
"What annoyed me the most was that, at the end there, they could have scored two more on a break.
"We talked about the numbers of three on the front line and five in the middle for when it dropped, but we didn't pin them in. If anybody looked like scoring, it was them.
"They were the better team, you wouldn't have known who was towards the top and who was towards the bottom.
"There's a long old way to go. Sometimes your team doesn't play that well, and whoever you put on there doesn't go on and play as well as you would want, but you just have to get going.
"I'm humble, I'm honest. I'm trying to say well done to them, rather than blame everybody else for what we didn't do well."
Next up for Swindon Town, who are now third in League Two, is a trip to Barnet on Tuesday (7.45pm).
