Holloway hails 'fantastic' performance as 10-man Swindon beat Rotherham in FA Cup
Boss Ian Holloway expressed his delight after Swindon Town progressed to the second round of the FA Cup in dramatic fashion.
Darren Oldaker’s 116th minute extra-time winner earned Town a 2-1 victory away at Rotherham United.
That came after Ollie Palmer’s 72nd minute goal cancelled out Sam Nombe’s fifth-minute opener for the hosts at New York Stadium.
Town were also left to seal the spoils with 10 men, after Aaron Drinan was sent off in second-half stoppage time.
But despite an incident-packed encounter, Holloway was pleased to see his side in the hat for Monday night’s draw.
He said: "We are still growing and we are still learning, but I was delighted with some of the football that we played.
"I am getting a bit nervous that we seem to be able to be done on the counter-attack, I think we need to work on those relationships back there, so that someone forces them one way.
"But, all in all, I thought that it was a fantastic performance away from home against a team that have won four in a row.
"The dressing room is buzzing in there with how we could do that with 10 men.
"The equaliser was absolutely vital, and we deserved it for how we pinned them back, and I felt for a lot of the game we played really well.”
Next up for Town is a home game against Tranmere in League Two on Saturday (3pm).
