Holloway vows to 'look forwards' with 'fire in our belly' after victory over Oldham

Boss Ian Holloway vowed to “look forwards” after a difficult week at Swindon Town and added his group would perform with “a bit of fire in our belly”.

The Robins manager was speaking after his side sealed a 3-0 victory at home against Oldham in League Two.

James Scanlon, Fletcher Holman and Aaron Drinan all got on the scoresheet for Town, while Swindon keeper Connor Ripley also saved a second-half penalty.

Victory came after Town were kicked out of the EFL Trophy this week. The decision made after they fielded two ineligible players in their last-16 tie against Luton.

But with another win for his team, Holloway is keen to push on with an exciting end to the season in store.

"I am not going to look backwards, I am going to look forwards, and I can't wait for the next game and the next game and the next game,” he said.

"Last week, I was not able to train my team properly because of a meeting. It is a comedy of errors, but it is all over with and we have got three points in the bag and three wins in a row.”

Reflecting further on their latest victory, Holloway said: "I'm really pleased with my team. I thought we showed a lot, and I wasn't even out on the grass with them.

"I've had a weird week, and I don't like that, but my staff are so good, my analytical team are so good, and now the lads know that we're all doing it for the ones who are stood in the corner who are injured.

"We're all doing it for each other, and we're all going to do it with a bit of fire in our belly.”

Next up for Town is a home game against Newport County on Wednesday (8pm kick-off).
