Holloway admits Swindon Town were like 'strangers' by end of defeat at Oldham

Manager Ian Holloway admitted his side were left looking like “a bunch of strangers” after their 3-0 defeat at Oldham Athletic.

A first-half goal from Elliott Nevitt put the Latics ahead at Boundary Park, before Town’s misery was compounded when Calum Kavanagh converted from the penalty spot and Mike Fondop-Talum netted late on.

It was Town’s first league defeat of the season, with Holloway left perplexed about his side’s lacklustre display.

He said: “We lost two players on Thursday, Billy Kirkman and Matty Virtue, so that was a completely new team.

"But on top of that, we were outfought, outworked, and outplayed by Oldham, which is not a shame, it's horrendous for us.

"(Ollie) Norburn ran the show, and we were basically a bunch of strangers in the end.

“There are no excuses. We’ve got a lot of work to do, and we have only got two days to do it."

Holloway's side have picked up four ponts from their opening three games in the division. Next up for Swindon Town is a home game against Port Vale on Tuesday (7.45pm).
