Holloway happy with point as Swindon Town begin League Two campaign

Boss Ian Holloway was content with a point, as Swindon Town started their League Two season with a 0-0 draw at Northampton.

Handing out a number of debuts to his squad, the Town boss stressed the need to limit the amount of losses in the division this season.

Ollie Clarke fired over in what was one of the visitors’ best opportunities, but with a point on the board, Holloway believes his squad had learned lessons from the previous campaign.

He said: “I am glad that they (Northampton) didn't score at the end, because I don't think that they would have deserved to win.

"This is a really good divison, it is very tight, and we are going to have some really good games.

"We need to turn 15 defeats into seven or eight, and I think that would have been one (defeat) last year.

"With the injuries that we have had, I think we are up to 11 now, that is going to stretch anyone and we had four debuts today.

"But we managed to get a point from a team who, last season, were a division higher. I have to be pleased with that, as that is one defeat we haven't got and a clean sheet."

Swindon Town start their home league fixtures when they take on Cheltenham at the Nigel Eady County Ground on Saturday (3pm).
