Holloway says Town must 'start winning now' to keep automatic promotion hopes alive

Ian Holloway insisted his Swindon Town team had to “start winning now” if they wanted any hopes of landing an automatic promotion spot.

The Robins suffered a 2-1 defeat to MK Dons at home on Saturday, despite Ollie Clarke’s second-half strike.

It left them sixth in League Two, five points adrift of Cambridge United having played a game more.

Town will look to end a run of four games without a win when they make the trip to Gillingham on Tuesday.

Holloway said: "All we can do is keep going. It doesn't feel right, it doesn't feel how we want it to feel, we haven't got that bounce that we've had, and it's still there for us.

"We can still do this, but are we going to catch [MK Dons]? Are we going to catch Bromley? It doesn't feel that way.

"Maybe the third place is still up for grabs, but we've got to start winning, and we've got to start winning now.

"We're not the only team to get towards the end of a season and start losing, but I would strongly suggest that, with nine games left, that doesn't have to be the score in the next game, does it?

"What do you want me to do? Be a liar and say that isn't a major blow. Ten points behind Bromley now, do we deserve to be that far? We probably don't, but we are, so let's just deal with it."
