Holloway: 'It’s difficult to believe how we’ve not taken a point'

Boss Ian Holloway admitted it was “difficult to believe” his side went home empty-handed as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at MK Dons.

A fine strike from Aaron Nemane proved enough for MK to seal the spoils as they went within a point of third-placed Town in League Two.

And despite seeing his side slip to their sixth league defeat of the campaign, Holloway insisted he saw an improvement in performance from last weekend’s 1-0 triumph against Crawley.

He told BBC Radio Wiltshire: “It’s difficult to believe how we’ve not taken a point.

“I think that would have been a fairer score than it was. Even the scoreboard was 1-1 at one time when they thought it went in and so did we!

“That’s as good a performance as we’ve had over recent weeks and we’ve ended it up with no points. That’s football for you.

“Well done to MK Dons, they scored a hell of a goal. We could have stopped it a little earlier in the move but didn’t, so well done to him for scoring that one.”

Town are now three points behind leaders Walsall in the division and two points behind fellow high-flyers Bromley.  

“It shows what this level is like, some really good teams in it and we are one of them,” said Holloway.

“It’s going to be a long old fight to the end of the season. We are not even halfway through yet.

“It just goes to show, this is what football is about. We didn’t play very well last week and got a win, whereas we played a lot better today and got a defeat. Let’s get on with the next one now.”
