Holloway reflects on FA Cup exit and predicts fight to the end with Salford

Boss Ian Holloway saw his Swindon Town side bow out of the FA Cup at Salford City but insisted: “We will be fighting with them at the end of the season.”

Town suffered a 3-2 defeat to League Two promotion-rivals Salford for the second time in two games, this time in the third round of the cup at Moor Lane.

James Ball and Ollie Palmer were on target in the second half for Holloway’s side, with Michael Olakigbe setting up both goals.

Reflecting on the contest, Holloway said: "It was another cracking game between two good teams, although it seems as though they have got a bit of voodoo on us.

"Well done to them, they are on a great run and unbeaten in nine, so we need to get on a run like that.

"That is two very good teams in a division that they both don't want to play in, and I think we will be fighting with them at the end of the season.”

Swindon Town are currently second in the League Two table, ahead of fourth-placed Salford on goal difference.

Next up for Town is a trip to table-toppers Bromley on Saturday (3pm).
