Holloway hails 'determination' of Swindon Town after win at Cheltenham

Boss Ian Holloway hailed the “grit and determination” displayed by his Swindon Town players as they sealed a 2-0 victory at Cheltenham Town.

Goals from Joel McGregor and Filozofe Mabete in the second half at Whaddon Road ensured Town got back to winning ways at the expense of Steve Cotterill’s side.

It put Town second in the League Two table, two points behind leaders Bromley.

Asked what won his team their latest contest, Holloway replied: “Grit and determination. They look like a really good side, so well done to Steve, I said that last time.

"I thought that we started really well, but we found it difficult to break them down and we found it difficult to create chances.

"I think they are very organised and really difficult to get through.

"I had to calm everybody down at half time, because you can't always play really well or always do what you want, it is about digging in and fighting and battling for each other.”

Victory saw Town end 2025 on a high, with their next test coming at home against Gillingham on New Year’s Day (3pm).
