'You have to keep believing' - Holloway keen to keep up fight until end of the season

Boss Ian Holloway insisted his Swindon Town team would keep believing and fighting, as they sealed an important point on the road with a 1-1 draw at Cambridge United.

Despite seeing less of the ball and recording fewer shots than the hosts at Abbey Stadium, Town snatched a late equaliser in a crucial contest within the League Two promotion race.

After Cambridge’s Ben Knight's struck the opener on 21 minutes, Town managed to stay in the contest and got their leveller when Joel McGregor’s strike found the net in the 90th minute.

It left Holloway’s men fifth in league two, two points behind Cambridge in the third automatic promotion spot.

The Town manager said: “They didn't give up, they never gave up. We kept going, we kept going, and we kept going. We did that at Tranmere, and you have to keep going.

"We're showing some good signs. We're not as fluid as we have been throughout the earlier part before the window, because we've got six or seven different players, and also some of your senior ones are out.

"You have to keep believing, and I'm fighting. Fighting against some Cambridge supporters who were getting over the top. You haven't done anything yet, mate.

"I believe we'll be good enough. I believe that they care. I believe they're doing it not just for us, but they're doing it for Harry [Smith], they're doing it for Harrison [Minturn], they're doing it for Glatz [Paul Glatzel], they're doing it for Snowy [Joe Snowdon], and they're doing it for everybody who cares about this football club. What more can you ask?”

Next up for Town is a home game against Walsall on Easter Monday (3pm).
