Rovers boss Evans says Holloway 'deserved' red card in derby draw
Bristol Rovers boss Steve Evans said Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway “deserved” to be sent off after the sides’ 1-1 draw at the Nigel Eady County Ground.
A goal from Ollie Palmer earned the Robins a point in the derby encounter against the Gas, who had opened the scoring through Kane Thompson-Sommers.
Holloway was shown a red card early in the second half, with his counterpart Evans explaining the situation from his point of view.
He said: "Well, I was surprised at Ian today, he just seemed to be on edge today, he was calling everyone a bad word.
"I don't like using the word. I don't use the word, my family hate it. But he's calling that from the first minute, not me.
"You cannot shout onto the field of play 'opposition, players, you're a'. You cannot do it. He deserved to go.
"I'll speak to Ollie Tuesday or Wednesday, whenever it is. I love him to bits, he's infectious. That wasn't a good Ollie."
The draw meant Town sit fourth in the League Two table, with 62 points from 35 games played.
Next up for Holloway’s side is a trip to Crawley on Saturday (3pm).
