Drinan does the trick in Swindon Town's first pre-season contest
Prolific Swindon Town striker Aaron Drinan picked up where he left off by firing a hat-trick in his side’s first game of pre-season.
The 28-year-old, who netted 22 league goals last campaign, struck three times in the opening half as Town beat Swindon Supermarine 4-0 in their first friendly of the summer.
Drinan, named League Two Player of the Year for 2025/26, took just six minutes to net his first of the game before an injury to Supermarine stopper Luke Purnell meant he needed treatment.
After Purnell was attended to, the friendly was reduced to two 30-minute halves.
Drinan struck twice more before the interval, before Ollie Palmer found the net in the second period.
Meanwhile, Swindon Town have confirmed the signing of James Debayo on a season-long loan from Premier League side Hull City.
He told the club website: “It’s a really good feeling, obviously we’ve got it sorted early on in the transfer window, so now I can just crack on.
“I’m just grateful to the manager for bringing me in, and hopefully I can repay his trust.
“I just want to kick on from here and hopefully put in some good performances.”
