New recruit Clark eager to give everything for Swindon Town

New Swindon Town signing Mitch Clark vowed he would “run through a brick wall” for the team after agreeing a deal to join Ian Holloway’s side.

The former Aston Villa and Leicester City defender arrives at the Nigel Eady County Ground on a one-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.

He arrives following the expiry of his contract at Port Vale, having played 14 games on loan at Fleetwood Town last season.

He told the club website: “I’m really happy to be here, I’m really looking forward to getting out onto the pitch and playing in front of the fans.

“I’m a hard-working player that will run through a brick wall for the team, and I’m someone that will give my all.

“I’m 27 years old now, so I’m an older player compared to some people nowadays, and the fact that I experienced a promotion two years ago with Port Vale, I’m hoping to experience that again.”

Clark becomes Town’s first signing of the summer, meanwhile young goalkeeper Charlie Summers has also signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the Robins, having first joined the club in 2024.

Speaking about his new deal the keeper said: “It’s what I’ve been working hard towards since I was young, so I’ve got to keep working now and hopefully get the next one.

“It’s brilliant here, I love playing for Swindon every time I pull on the shirt, it’s brilliant.

“To have been around the lads on a matchday to see what their preparations were like was a really valuable experience for a young goalkeeper like myself.

“It’s also been really good to work with Connor [Ripley] and Lewis [Ward] as well, who have both helped me massively to keep on improving and pushing me on.”
