Swindon Town bring in Borland as Kilkenny signs fresh deal
Swindon Town have announced the loan signing of promising midfielder Aidan Borland from Aston Villa.
The 18-year-old, who was previously on the books at Celtic, arrives at the Nigel Eady County Ground on a deal until the end of the season.
An FA Youth Cup finalist earlier this year, Borland sealed his first professional deal with Villa in 2024.
He has already featured for Scotland at under-21 level, having progressed through the age groups with his nation.
Meanwhile, Town have also announced Gavin Kilkenny has penned a new contract to keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2028.
The former AFC Bournemouth midfielder first joined the club in August 2024 and has gone on to be an important member of Ian Holloway’s squad.
Kilkenny has played 74 times for Town in all competitions. He has started 21 times in League Two this campaign, helping his side be in the mix for automatic promotion.
Elsewhere, Swindon Town’s trip to Harrogate was called off due to a frozen pitch. A new date for that game will be announced in due course.
