Bignot exits Swindon Town with club 'refreshing the football department'
Manager Ian Holloway hailed the “professionalism and commitment” of Marcus Bignot, after it was confirmed he would leave his position as assistant manager at Swindon Town.
Bignot initially joined the staff at the Nigel Eady County ground under former boss Mark Kennedy, but has served under Holloway since his arrival midway through the 2024/25 campaign.
And Holloway was keen to praise Bignot after the club confirmed he would not be continuing in his role next season.
Speaking to the club website, Holloway said: “Marcus has been a real positive influence since the moment I walked through the door.
“His energy, professionalism, and commitment to the players and staff have been first-class, and he leaves with nothing but our respect and gratitude.
“Marcus goes with our full blessing, and I have no doubt he will be a huge asset wherever he goes next.”
A further statement from the club said: “The decision forms part of a wider restructuring of Ian Holloway’s backroom team as the club prepares for the 2026/27 campaign, with a focus on refreshing the football department and aligning staff roles ahead of the new season.
“Everyone at Swindon Town would like to place on record their sincere thanks to Marcus for his contribution during his time at the club. He departs with the club’s full appreciation and best wishes for his future career in football.
“We wish Marcus Bignot every success in his next chapter.”
