November Talk with Sian Hewson of Future Planning

We’re almost at the end of November. The days are getting colder and small businesses are preparing for the end of the year. Today we’re talking to Sian Hewson who is a mortgage and protection adviser for Future Planning, a financial advice service based in Swindon

What’s your business highlight for November 2022?
My highlight is obtaining Top Rated Adviser status for 2022 and for the 4th year running.

November represents Movember – Men’s Health Awareness Month. What, if anything does this mean to you?
It represents an opportunity for men to talk about mental health and the stigma that is attached to men being able to address mental health concerns. It also represents a chance to look at cancers specifically for men and other physical illnesses that effect just men.

Has the recent turmoil in the economy, government or the cost of living crisis affected your business?
Our business has been invaluable during this time because I have been able to save people thousands of pounds in interest on their mortgage and reduce other outgoings such as home insurance and life insurance costs.

What’s your top tip for being positive in the midst of a lot of negativity?
I always recommend trying to look for the positive in any negative situation and to treat others as you would like to be treated.

It’s Black Friday on November 26 which is now quite mainstream – do you participate in this within your business?
I take part in the Black Friday sales and this year I am offering a 20% discount on my advice fee.

Have you got any events planned for November or December you’d like to shout about – either that you are running or attending?
I am going to see Beauty and the Beast at the Hippodrome in Bristol which I’m very excited about and I am looking forward to picking my own real Christmas tree this year!
