Planning Underway For Swindon Armed Forces Day 2015

Preparation for the Swindon Armed Forces Day in Faringdon Road Park on 27th June is in full swing.

The line up of entertainment for the whole family has been finalised, featuring an array of talented acts, including: The Military Wives Choir from the Defence Academy at Shrivenham, who will perform on the stage; in the arena, as well as a marching band from the Army, two bands from local Air Training Corps squadrons as well as the Corps of Drums and drill team from the local Army Cadets will be there to entertain; there will be performances by two civilian bands including the junior section of the Great Western Youth Orchestra.

So, to support this great line-up, there will be a funfair including a bouncy castle, face painting, street dancing, interactive games from the Wyvern Theatre and activities by streetgames.org.

Displays of military equipment and local car clubs and motorcycle clubs will also be there to display their “pride and joy”.

For those local veterans, there will be a full roster of military charities to answer any questions you may and a veteran’s parade after which the Mayor will award veteran’s badges to those who do not yet own one.

The usual food and beverage outlets will be present, which will include a hog roast and a bar that will remain open for the event's duration.
