Future Filmmakers can get Hands on Experience at New College Swindon

The brand new HNC/HND Creative Media course at New College Swindon will give budding filmmakers the chance to get hands on experience with professional equipment used in the film industry.

Students on the course will use industry standard filmmaking and editing equipment, including a Canon C100 camera, prime lenses, follow focus and 800w lights. This practical filmmaking course is equivalent to the first two years of an undergraduate degree in Film Production. It will include lessons on industry practice, film theory and practical skills, plus production workshops.

HND Creative Media is part of a suite of new creative HNDs that the Art & Media department at New College will be offering in September, also including Art & Design and Textiles. 

These exciting changes highlight why New College Swindon was awarded Artsmark Gold status, recognising its commitment to, and excellence in, arts and cultural education. Artsmark is Arts Council England’s flagship programme which enables schools and other organisations to evaluate, strengthen and celebrate their arts and cultural provision.

There will be an event to provide information about these new creative HNDs on Thursday 19th March at 6pm in BF05 at New College Swindon.

The event will give people the opportunity to try out some of the equipment in taster workshops that will take place after the talk. There will also be the opportunity to complete application forms on the night.
