5 Top Festive Hair Styling Tips with Pixal-Rose Hair Design
With Christmas coming up, our calendars fill with parties, catch-ups and celebrations, so it’s a great time to give your hair some extra care.
To help you keep your hair looking great without any fuss, Kelly, owner of Pixal-Rose Hair Design in Swindon, shares her top five tips for easy, healthy, and stylish hair this festive season.
With years of experience in colour, cutting, and bridal styling, Kelly knows how to balance everyday practicality with salon-quality results. Whether you’re going to an office party, festive brunch, or family get-together, these tips will help you look your best this Christmas.
1. Protect your hair from heat
With the extra parties, nights out and social events, your hair may well be exposed to more heated tools than usual. Be sure to protect those locks with a good heat defence spray and hair mask. It will prevent too much damage over the Christmas period (which also protects that beautiful colour too).
2. Go heatless!
We are big fans of heatless styling. Velcro rollers are extremely affordable to purchase and easy to apply to the hair for added volume. Bonus points, as they are virtually harmless to the hair. Use hairspray to give a longer-lasting hold.
3. Add a touch of sparkle
Easy glitter trick. For a glamorous night out, add some sparkle to clear hair gel (glittery eyeshadow works well for this). Use to slick the hair back in a sleek bun or even to swoop your hair to one side for a flash of glitz.
4. Rethink dry shampoo
Dry shampoo can be applied to clean hair... yes, you read that right. You'll need those bouncy blowouts to last a few days over the weekend, so use dry shampoo on your freshly washed hair to absorb the oils as they appear. Dry shampoo is a great preventative measure, which isn't just for greasy hair.
If you feel like a bit more of a refresh but can't handle a full wash and blowout, tie your hair back, leaving out the parting section of your hair, and cleanse this area on its own (and blow dry afterward).
5. Keep it easy with an up-do
Up do! These don't have to be complicated, and a sleek ponytail can be super effective for those midweek socials. Use your heatless rollers to create a bit of volume and bounce in the tail of the pony, and add a nice Christmas ribbon to your hair band for that added festive feel. And remember that glitter hack to tame frizz and add hold.
And don’t forget, self-care is important throughout December too. Booking a bouncy blow dry at the salon can last a few days and is a nice Christmas treat!
