Swindon’s Favourite Panto Dame Returns for a GIANT Adventure
Swindon is set for a treat this festive season as much-loved pantomime dame David Ashley returns in the GIANT pantomime adventure Jack and the Beanstalk at The Wyvern Theatre. The spectacular, toe-tapping, laugh-out-loud pantomime for the whole family opens on 5 December 2026.
As the first of a fantastic line-up to be announced the acclaimed actor and director David will step into some more elaborate frocks to take the role of larger-than-life Dame Trott as he celebrates 40 years in showbusiness. David’s remarkable career has seen him appear across West End productions, national tours and concerts, with credits including Les Misérables, Blood Brothers, Starlight Express and My Fair Lady, and of course countless pantomimes.
He confirms “I’m absolutely thrilled to be back at the Wyvern, celebrating my 40th professional anniversary. It truly feels like coming home – this theatre is where it all started for me, back in 1986 with Jack and the Beanstalk alongside Johnny Ball. I can’t wait to be back on stage in Swindon and share this very special panto with audiences once again.”
Whether you’re a seasoned panto-goer or experiencing the magic for the very first time, this promises to be an unmissable festive treat. Award-winning producers Imagine Theatre return to Swindon with a production that will be bigger, bolder and funnier than ever.
The Trott’s are so poor they don’t have a bean to their name and what’s more, there’s an evil and greedy giant terrifying the village. Will they really have to sell Buttercup the family cow just to survive?
Join brave young Jack as he trades the family cow for a handful of magic beans, setting off a thrilling adventure to the land of giants. Expect dazzling sets, show-stopping songs, laugh-out-loud comedy, plenty of audience participation, and panto magic for all ages.
More casting news will be announced soon – so keep your eyes peeled and book your tickets early for this ‘moo-vellous’ family-friendly pantomime, guaranteed to leave everyone aged 4 to 104 feeling full of festive cheer and bursting with ‘beans’!
