Get inspired by John Aubrey this summer at Chippenham Museum with a series of free creative activities inspired by the museum's summer exhibition, Wiltshire and the World: John Aubrey and the Quest for Knowledge. Join in every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the school holidays for fun, hands-on crafts suitable for the whole family.
Each week features a different themed activity:
Week 1 (28 & 30 July) – Hexaflexhibition
Have some mathematical fun with flexible hexagons.
Week 2 (4 & 6 August) – Butterfly Bonanza
Craft your own beautiful paper butterflies.
Week 3 (11 & 13 August) – Frankenwyvern
Designed by the Young Curators Group, create your own mixed-up mythical creature.
Week 4 (18 & 20 August) – People in Pieces
Create a quirky mosaic portrait inspired by the exhibition.
Week 5 (25 & 27 August) – Glittering Grottos
Design a secret 3D grotto to take home.
For visitors who prefer a quieter experience, Quiet Time sessions take place before the museum opens from 9:00am–10:00am (last entry 9:45am). These sessions are free but require advance booking. Please note that the same activity takes place on both Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.
