REVIEW: Mumma Mia Mother's Day Special at The Village Hotel Swindon

We had the most wonderful time at the Mumma Mia Mother’s Day event at The Village Hotel Swindon – it was truly a fantastic experience from start to finish.

Our ticket included a delicious two-course lunch, a glass of fizz for Mum, and a brilliant Mumma Mia sing-along with live singers, which set the tone for a fun-filled afternoon.

For the main course there were some excellent choices, including roast sirloin of beef marinated with garlic and thyme, served with roast maris piper potatoes, vegetables, cauliflower cheese and stuffing wrapped in smoked bacon.

Other options included roast chicken breast stuffed with Somerset brie or a stuffed baby squash, meaning there was something for everyone. Dessert was equally tempting, with choices such as a scrumptious strawberry shortcake biscuit layered with vanilla whipped cream and fresh strawberry compote, or a mandarin and chocolate tart. There was also a great-value younger diners’ menu, which made it perfect for families.

The Village Hotel Swindon truly excelled themselves with both the menu and the service – everything was absolutely faultless.

From the moment you walked in, the venue had been beautifully decorated so it felt like stepping straight into a scene from Mumma Mia, complete with lovely photo opportunities. The room itself was set up brilliantly, with individual tables for each group styled like a Greek taverna, which added to the atmosphere perfectly.

The whole experience was fabulous. Before long everyone was singing, dancing and joining in. The wine was flowing and the room was filled with laughter and fun. What made it especially memorable was how the layout encouraged everyone to interact – tables were dancing together, singing together and really sharing the experience.

It was such a joyful, uplifting afternoon and great value for money. I would highly recommend booking an event with Village Hotel Swindon if you're looking for something a little different and lots of fun, but also with exceptional food and service. The Village team really had thought of everything to make the event special.
