Good Women: Tapestries in Dialogue with Kelmscott Manor, New Work by Chrissie Freeth

A seasonal exhibition at Kelmscott Manor presenting new tapestry work by Chrissie Freeth in dialogue with the site’s historic textile collection, available to view on public open days.

Kelmscott Manor’s 2026 exhibition, Good Women, is a solo presentation of new work by leading tapestry weaver Chrissie Freeth. The exhibition draws connections between Freeth’s contemporary, figure-led tapestries and the Manor’s historic textile heritage, including major tapestry highlights from the collection.

The title references Geoffrey Chaucer and reflects Freeth’s interest in the inner lives of women, reworking traditional iconography, symbolism and narrative through large-scale handwoven pieces. The exhibition also complements opportunities on open days for hands-on creative activities and workshops linked to weaving and heritage crafts.

Admission: Included with general admission on public open days (ticket booking may be required for entry).
