Harry Ramsden’s opens in Swindon with 7p fish and chips for first 100 customers at grand opening
The new Harry’s Hut at Frasers Plus Designer Outlet Swindon opens on Monday 19 October, with a family celebration planned for Friday 23 October.
Harry Ramsden’s is bringing its famous fish and chips to Swindon, and celebrating with prices inspired by the year it all began.
The new restaurant opens at Frasers Plus Designer Outlet Swindon on Monday 19th October 2026, ahead of an official grand opening on Friday 23th October, when the first 100 customers through the door can enjoy fish and chips for just 7p.
The celebration will also include family activities throughout the day, with face painting for younger visitors, product sampling and a Spin the Wheel game offering Harry Ramsden’s merchandise.
The restaurant takes the form of a Harry’s Hut, the brand’s compact format named after the ten-foot wooden hut where Harry Ramsden first served fish and chips in Guiseley, West Yorkshire, in 1928.
Almost a century later, the format brings the brand’s signature hand-battered fish and freshly cooked chips, prepared in beef dripping, to a smaller setting.
Located within Swindon’s historic former Great Western Railway works, the new restaurant joins the outlet’s growing food and drink offering, giving shoppers another place to stop for a meal during their visit.
James Fleming, Chief Executive Officer at Harry Ramsden’s Group, said: “Harry’s Hut gives us a way to take Harry Ramsden’s into high-footfall destinations in a compact, flexible format, without compromising on the quality and craft the brand is known for. Frasers Plus Designer Outlet Swindon is the kind of high-footfall destination where the format can really work, and a strong partner to open with. Almost a century on from the original hut in Guiseley, this opening reinforces our ability to adapt and stay relevant.”
Sean Castle, Centre Manager at Frasers Plus Designer Outlet Swindon, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Harry Ramsden’s to Frasers Plus Designer Outlet Swindon. Its much-loved British heritage and crowd-pleasing menu make it a fantastic addition to our food and drink offer, giving shoppers another great reason to pause, refuel and enjoy a full day out.”
