Holloway hails Town's supporters after comeback victory at home

Boss Ian Holloway hailed the Swindon Town fans for their support, as his charges came from behind to win 3-1 at home against Colchester United.

Kylian Kouassi put the visitors ahead at the Nigel Eady County Ground, in what was a lacklustre performance from Town in the opening 45 minutes.

But Holloway’s side responded to seal all three points in the second period. Striker Aaron Drinan netted a hat-trick after signing a fresh contract days previously.

Speaking post-match, Holloway said: “I thought the fans were great, and they deserve it at the end.

"It was so exciting, and I want to see shots and efforts go at goal, and I certainly did see that in the second half.

"In the first half, it was nowhere near good enough. If you ask me why, I would have no idea. Maybe it was because they got better and we didn't quite press right.

"You have got to set standards. We managed to win the second half. We lost the first half, but won the second by enough to send everybody home happy.

"Hopefully, anyway, because the effort was great. Sometimes the lack of understanding is apparent, but the effort is top drawer.”

Victory put Town second in the League Two table, with 10 points from their opening five fixtures.

They make the trip to ninth-placed York City in league action next Saturday (3pm).
