Holloway happy with Town response after beating Chesterfield
Boss Ian Holloway hailed the response from his Swindon Town side, as they battled to a 2-1 victory at Chesterfield.
Full-back Finley Munroe put Town ahead at SMH Group Stadium, before the hosts found a rapid response through John Fleck two minutes later.
Joe Snowdon scored what proved to be the winner for Town just past the hour mark. They also had Munroe sent off in stoppage time and were forced to see the game out with 10 players.
And Holloway, who labelled last week’s 2-2 draw with Grimsby as “garbage” was pleased to see both an improvement in result and performance.
Reflecting on the win, he said: “We got three points and that is what matters most, as we have to get so many of them to get where some people think we already are.
"I am delighted with the lads, because I thought we looked like my team again.
"We looked like we pressed, we looked like we ran, and we looked like we wanted to get stuck in, and we needed to against a really good team.
"I am very pleased with the goals and thought we could have scored more, but that was a wonderful game of football, when last Saturday was garbage.
"I didn't see my lads run, I didn't see my lads chase, and I didn't see my lads put the opposition under pressure, but we did it everywhere today, and we needed to against a fantastic team, but we looked like one too.
"I am delighted with the performance and the effort and the team spirit and the club spirit along with the fans.”
Victory for Town ensured they stayed second in the League Two table, a point behind leaders Walsall.
Next up for Swindon is a home game against Peterborough United on Tuesday (7.30pm), in the last 32 of the Football League Trophy.
