SNAPPED: New College Art Students Unveil Hermeneutics Fashion Projects

New College Swindon's Art and Design Foundation Diploma students have been working hard on their first exhibition, over the past few months, titled ‘Hermeneutics’. The theme of the project brief was Richard Serra’s verb list and each student had to produce two outcomes: a wearable piece of art and a large scale canvas.

The private view took place at New College on Monday 25th November 2019 and the exhibition has been on display throughout the week. 

The end of unit exhibition is a fantastic display of canvases based on verbs from Richard Serra’s verb list, as well as wearable textile art pieces, based on the learner’s interpretation of a given artist.  The work on display incorporates the following techniques and processes; mono-printing, screen-printing, typography, plaster tiles, lino printing, felt-making, painting, sculpture, fashion construction and textile manipulation techniques.
