We recommend
Sophie’s inspiration stemmed from her love of colour and detail that appears within nature, especially in plants and flowers. Her main aim was to experiment with the use of colour and apply different techniques, compositions and shutter speeds.
Sophie’s experimentation certainly paid off, as she walked away with second place overall. She attended the awards ceremony at the Civil Offices last week and was given a guided tour of the Mayor’s Parlour.
She commented: “When my lecturer told me that I came second I was surprised as I had not long started my photography course, so it came as a great surprise to me. I would recommend this competition to other students as it gives you an opportunity to experiment and express your ideas and perspectives on things, within a set theme, while learning and applying new skills. I would like to thank my lecturer Louise for the help and support she has given me throughout the competition.”
Sophie’s work, along with other pieces of work from the competition will be on display in an exhibition at John Lewis at a later date.
