Collection Conversation – Ellie Thompson & Sam Heath

Join artists Ellie Thompson and Sam Heath at Chippenham Museum for a free art talk exploring their creative practices, inspirations and approaches to art.

Join Chippenham Museum for its final Collection Conversation of 2026, featuring artists Ellie Thompson and Sam Heath. This free talk offers visitors an opportunity to learn more about the artists' practices, inspirations and creative approaches.

Ellie Thompson is an artist based in the South West whose soft sculptures explore themes including schadenfreude, anatomy and cartoon-like humour. Her puppet-like characters appear both extinct and alive, with expressive eyes that give the motionless figures an animated quality.

Sam Heath studied at Camberwell College of Arts and Cardiff School of Art and Design. Following a three-year residency at Leighton Park School in Reading, he has continued teaching drawing and printmaking in schools and colleges while exhibiting and curating shows across London and the South West. Drawing from life is central to his practice, with familiar subjects, particularly family and friends, recurring in his work.

The talk runs from 2pm to 3:30pm. Admission is free, but advance booking is essential.
