Could Nook & Huddle Be Coming To Your Town? Malmesbury Coworking Business Launches Franchise Opportunity
Following a successful first year, Malmesbury coworking space Nook & Huddle is expanding nationwide with the launch of its new franchise programme.
A Malmesbury business that set out to tackle remote working loneliness and support independent businesses is now preparing to bring its unique coworking concept to towns across the UK.
Nook & Huddle, the boutique coworking space located on Malmesbury High Street, has officially launched its franchise programme following a successful first year in business.
Founded by local entrepreneur Sara Harrod, Nook & Huddle was created to provide freelancers, remote workers and small business owners with a professional place to work that feels welcoming, personal and community-focused rather than corporate.
Now, after receiving growing interest from business owners wanting to replicate the model in their own towns, the business is opening the doors to franchise partners.
"One of the questions I've been asked repeatedly over the last year is, 'Could this work where I live?'" explains Sara.
"The answer is yes. The challenges we solve aren't unique to Malmesbury. Across the UK, people are working from home more than ever before, often feeling isolated and disconnected. At the same time, many high streets are searching for new ways to remain vibrant and relevant."
Unlike many coworking operators that focus on large city-centre locations, Nook & Huddle is intentionally designed for smaller market towns and community-focused locations.
Its spaces are warm, boutique and intentionally personal, creating an environment that feels more like a home-office-away-from-home than a traditional office.
"People often think coworking means rows of desks in a large building with white walls and white desks," says Sara.
"That's never been our vision. Nook & Huddle is about creating a genuine community. It's somewhere people know your name, where conversations happen naturally over a cup of tea, and where local businesses can support one another."
The franchise opportunity has been specifically designed for existing business owners, consultants, coaches, agency owners and entrepreneurs looking for a professional base for their own business while creating an additional income stream.
One of the model's most distinctive features is that franchise owners can work from the space themselves, effectively making their own business a member whilst generating revenue through coworking memberships, meeting room bookings, permanent work pods and community events.
The model has also been designed to be operationally simple, with app-based bookings, automated access systems and streamlined processes reducing the need for day-to-day staffing.
"It's not a franchise that requires a large team or complex operations," Sara explains. "It's designed to fit alongside an existing business and lifestyle. Many of our ideal franchise partners are already running successful businesses and want a professional home to grow their business from but currently can't justify the additional expense of an office. Now they can have that, whilst also creating something valuable for their local community."
The launch comes at a time when remote and hybrid working continue to reshape how people live and work, whilst high streets increasingly seek new uses for empty retail units.
Sara believes boutique coworking spaces can play an important role in both.
"We're creating places where people can do their best work, build meaningful connections and feel part of something bigger than themselves. At the same time, we're bringing activity, footfall and new energy into town centres.
That's why I'm so excited about this next chapter. It's not just about growing Nook & Huddle. It's about helping more towns create spaces that support local business, community and connection."
