What are your plans for July in your business?
July will see the completion of six claims for storm damage, flooding and fire damage as well as pushing through other current claims that had arisen in late June.
What are your personal plans for this month?
We have our first foreign holiday in four years booked - to Corfu - I am excited to visit Greece again. I have visited the majority of the Greek islands before, but this is our first time in Corfu so really looking forward to that. We also have a local camping trip booked with my son, his friends and their dads, which is always fun.
July 17 is World Emoji Day and this often trends on social media. What do you think of emojis?
I like using a good emoji in my personal life: they lighten up a boring message and give it some personality. Or they’re good for just a quick response. They are creeping into business emails now, and although I think they’re OK in general interactions, I feel they should be avoided when it comes to professional communication. My favourite emoji is a laughing emoji – it means that you have brightened someone’s day.
Can you name one client you’d like to give a summer shout-out too?
We have worked with an amazing lady, whom we’ve just handed her property back after an escape of water. She is 78 with a cancer diagnosis, and this is her 2nd claim within three years. Her resilience was tremendous, she was very understanding as we moved her out of her beautiful home, salvaged her belongings and addressed the problem. before reinstating it and moving her back in, we partnered with Easy Storage on this project. The regeneration of the home was a great success, so they asked if they could do some promotional photos of returning her furniture. She really was the star of the show!
We get to work with some amazing people and become part of their lives, at a point where they are in a desperate situation.
