Wildlife Cameraman Doug Allan to Share his Experiences with Local Diving Club
Doug Allan, one of the worlds most respected and well-known wildlife cameramen will be visiting Swindon to talk about his experiences filming in the Polar Regions.
Described by David Attenborough as "the toughest in the business", Doug has spent more than 8000 hours underwater and more than 500 of those under ice!
Responsible for much of the iconic footage that you see on wildlife documentaries today, Doug has worked on keynote BBC programmes including The Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Ocean Giants, Frozen Planet, Life in the Freezer and Operation Iceberg.
Although he has filmed in countries all over the world, Doug is most celebrated for the 35 years that he has been working and filming in the Antarctic and Arctic.
On Monday 10th February at Swindon Sub-Aqua Club, Doug will take audience members behind the scenes of some of the BBC's best loved wildlife documentaries.
Using a mixture of still images and video clips Doug will speak about the techniques of diving in this cold water environment, about the challenges of capturing the required footage and about his topside experiences.
There will also be a question and answer session and plenty of opportunities to talk to Doug personally. Signed copies of Doug's book, Freeze Frame will be on sale at the event.
Guided tours of the recently refurbished clubhouse on Supermarine Road will be held during the interval and at the end.
The event will be held at the Swindon Sub-Aqua Club on Monday 10th February at 8.00pm, tickets cost £9.
