Speaking after the Finnish import signed his contract, Head Coach Ryan Aldridge said: "I'd like to welcome Henri to the club. "He is a real team player and will do anything that is asked of him. "He is a hard worker and he has played at a very high level and is just the kind of guy we need in our line up right now."
Sandvik began his career in the junior Finnish leagues back in the 2002-03 season, playing predominantly for Ilves who are well regarded for their youth set up and he broke into the clubs SM-liiga side during the 2007-08 season.
The SM-liiga is Finland's top hockey league and is widely regarded as the second toughest league in Europe and between 2007 and the 2011-12 season, he spent much of his time playing for Ilves and Lempäälän Kisa who are more commonly known as Leki, in the countries second tier Mestis league. He then went on to play 20 times for EHC Bregenzerwald in the Austrian National League where he scored 10 goals and made 15 assists.
This season he has played for Hermes in the third tier of Finnish hockey and more recently, for Leki in the Mestis league. Sandvik could be available for this weekend's double header against the MK Lightning paperwork permitting, and is expected to make his home debut on Sunday when the two sides face off at 6pm.
The game will also see our latest Kids Go FREE offer, so why not get the whole family along to the game to welcome our new import?! Meanwhile in other news, Aldridge has also announced that Chris Jones has played his final match for the club after he decided to leave on Monday following Nicky Watt's departure to the Basingstoke Bison.
