Jordan Stewart faces lengthy spell on the sidelines

Swindon Town's Jordan Stewart has faced a second major blow while at the club as he will be out of action for the foreseeable future.

Stewart signed for Swindon from Northern Ireland outfit Glentoran in the summer of 2015 for a fee around £55,000 after attracting interest from Stoke City, Crystal Palace, and Middlesbrough.

But, by his own admission in an emotional Twitter post, Stewart has been blighted by bad luck since making the switch to Wiltshire.

Last season he was unable to settle at SN1 due to homesickness and he has now suffered a torn cartilage injury.

The 21-year-old posted on Twitter:

"Worst news I could of (sic) got. Torn my cartilage and done my mcl.

"Never one for writing a status like this but (it) seems since I made the move here (Swindon) everything's been against me.

"Then I start to work hard to do well and I'm out of football for a while but believe me I'll be back as soon as I get the operation and I'll prove so many people wrong."

It is not yet known how long Stewart will be out for, but the nature of the injury suggests it could be a long while.
