Sendles-White suffered the injury midway through the first half in the 2-1 loss at home to Bury on Saturday, and had to leave the pitch via stretcher to be replaced by QPR loanee Darnell Furlong.
Town manager Luke Williams said at full-time that the Northern Ireland U21 international could be out for a long time, and Sendles-White confirmed the bad news in a Tweet this afternoon.
"Bad news from the scan," Sendles-White said in his tweet.
"I've ruptured my ACL and also damaged other parts of my knee.
"There is no word possible to describe how I feel. The season is over for me and it's going to be a long road to recovery for me now.
"I would just like to thank everyone for their kind messages of support, they mean alot.
"I will come back better and stronger."
Swindon now only have three recognised centre backs until the transfer window re-opens in January - Lloyd Jones, Raphael Branco and captain Nathan Thompson.
Furlong and Conor Thomas have also been used as makeshift centre backs this season - but their preferred positions are right-back and centre midfielder respectively.
Sendles-White joins Michael Doughty and Jordan Stewart on the treatment table.
