Holloway not happy despite Town putting five past Chippenham

Swindon Town boss Ian Holloway was displeased by his team’s display, despite seeing them run out 5-1 winners at Chippenham Town.

Goals from Paul Glatzel, Botan Ameen, Ollie Clarke and James Ball put the Robins well in command at Hardenhuish Park.

Jaxon Brown added a fifth late on after non-league Chippenham had previously reduced the arrears.

And it was Town’s second-half performance that irked Holloway the most.

Asked whether he felt his squad were on schedule for the start of the season, he said: “Absolutely nowhere near. I am very disappointed, to be honest.

"In the second half, particularly, if you get that many chances and you miss them, then let a goal in like we did.

"It was an awkward shape, they played well, and they tried to do what they did.

"That was the first time we tried to give them 90 minutes and I am not very pleased to be honest. I would rather watch it back before I make that many statements.

"I am bitterly disappointed in certain bits that I wanted us to be better at. Talking, communicating, and getting across. It does not matter what is going on, they should know that from our training sessions.”

He added: "You have got to be ruthless, relentless, and keep going. I am disappointed with that, but I will probably feel differently when I watch it back."

Town’s next test comes at National League Eastleigh on Saturday.
