Holloway's pride despite end to Swindon Town's play-off chances

Boss Ian Holloway saw Swindon Town’s slim play-off chances ended, before declaring his group had been “unrecognisable” from when he first arrived.

The manager was speaking after Town fell to a 1-0 defeat at Bromley on Easter Monday, due to Will Wright’s own goal two minutes from time.

Defeat meant Swindon were seven points adrift of the League Two play-off places, with two games of their season remaining.

Despite missing out on the top seven, it is a far cry from when Holloway took over back in October, with the club fighting against relegation out of the Football League.

Speaking post-match, Holloway said: "When your season's over, it hurts but I don't want to sound down. I'm not.

"I am completely honoured and it's a thrill to be here. This group have grown in unrecognisable ways and I can't thank them enough.

"I can't wait to try to get this right, keep this group, add to it and see where I can go."

Holloway, who recently signed a fresh contract at the Nigel Eady County Ground, will prepare his side to visit Gillingham on Saturday (3pm).
