Freak goal ends Swindon Supermarine's undefeated home record

Swindon Supermarine saw their unbeaten home record undone by a freak winner as Wincester City pulled off a smash and grab 2-1 victory at the Webbswood. Alec Everard reports on Supermarine's first home defeat of the season.

In what was a tight affair the deciding moments came with 20 minutes to go. Darko Obeng seized on a header won by Warren Bentley to fire in low past keeper Josh Gould from the edge of the box to give the Citizens the lead.

Direct from the kick off Marine played the ball back to defence and the resulting clearance struck Bentley and flew back past the keeper for two goals in a minute.

Marine had looked the more likely up to then with Zack Kotwica striking the bar early doors and the outstanding Jordi Valero Miret in goal for Winchester denying league top scorer Harry Williams on countless occasions in both halves.

Supermarine did get one back on 77 with substitute Conor McDonagh smacking home after a free kick into the box fell loose and despite some late pressure Miret was the hero again to deny McDonagh a second and catching high under late pressure from home defender Ty Duffus in injury time as the kitchen sink went in.

Man of the match – Jordi Valero Miret (Wincester) – Leon Morrison (Marine)
