Official Guinness World Record Attempt and launch of MY48 event to raise money for local charity Doing it for Dan

On Friday 20th November 2020 at 12 midday local Swindon runner Chelle White will be embarking on an incredible running challenge to raise money and awareness for local charity Doing it for Dan.

She will be attempting to break not only the Official Guinness female world record, but also the overall Guinness world record for the most miles covered on a treadmill for 48 hours (the current female record is 200.7 miles and the male and overall record is 251.79 miles). If she succeeds, this will be a new Official Guinness World record!

Chelle said “My reason for doing this is to show people that no matter who you are or your background, you can do what you want with determination and passion.  48 hours is a long time but rather short in the scheme of a lifetime that we have to make a difference in this world, which is why I wanted to do this for charity and specifically for Doing it for Dan as it’s a fab charity that enables children to achieve their potential in sport where it is their passion”.

The 48 hour challenge is taking place at Anytime Fitness gym in Old Town, Swindon. Anytime Fitness General Manager Tom Edmonds said “We’re delighted to be supporting Chelle with her world record attempt.  At Anytime Fitness we are always looking for ways to support our local community and charities and Doing it for Dan is a brilliant local charity that really works with our values.  As a 24/7 club it’s great that we can facilitate this kind of challenge and we’re looking forward to seeing Chelle give it her all in support of this fantastic cause”.

Chelle has been undergoing a gruelling training programme to prepare for the challenge and has been receiving help from a number of local fitness professionals including Danny Clayton of Swindon based DC-Injury Clinic who said “I am proud to be helping Chelle in a small way to get to the start line of her World Record Attempt.  It’s a huge undertaking, and not just the event itself; the training load, the change in lifestyle (sleep, nutrition, social life) and the psychological impact make it both a massive physical challenge and, I’m sure, a huge achievement in the end”.

To coincide with Chelle’s World Record Attempt, Doing it for Dan is inviting people to take part in their own personal 48 challenge by registering for its virtual event MY48 which will be running throughout November.

The charity set up in memory of Daniel Climance, gives grants to clubs, organisations and families based in Wiltshire and its neighbouring Counties to pay for sports equipment, kit and other associated costs to enable children to take part in sporting activities.

Founder and Trustee of Doing it for Dan, Helen Hancock said “to show support for Chelle we would love people to get involved in MY48 and register to take part in their own MY48 challenge – to be clear we are not expecting anyone to run for 48 hours like Chelle! A MY48 challenge could be to run for 48 minutes, to do 48 keepie-uppies or press ups each day of November or to cycle for 48 miles.  We are so proud and incredibly grateful to Chelle for undertaking her amazing 48 challenge, particularly given the impact that Covid-19 has had on our ability to fundraise this year”
