Chippenham Tri Club Launches Inaugural Youth Aquathlon
The Chippenham Tri Club has opened entries for its first Tristars Youth Aquathlon, which will take place on Sunday 26th July 2015 at Azimghur Barracks, North Colerne.
The swim / run event is aimed at children aged between 8 to 16 and designed to encourage children of all abilities to enjoy and take up the growing sport of triathlon. Each child will complete a timed swim in the barracks’ 25m swimming pool, followed by a traffic free run. The distance to complete varies and is determined by your child’s age group. Exact details for each age group are published on www.chippenhamtri.org.uk as well as the online entry for the event.
Chippenham Triathlon was formed in 2014 and is the duathlon and triathlon subsidiary of Chippenham Harriers and Chippenham Wheelers. The club is affiliated to Triathlon England and the Tristars Youth Aquathlon event is run in accordance with Triathlon England rules
Chris Maxwell, Chair of the Chippenham Triathlon Club said “The Tristars series is about providing a fun and enjoyable environment for children of all standards, whether they are beginners or experienced junior athletes to take part. We are delighted to be able to offer this event for local children, which is made possible with thanks to the help of the Army base. We hope this experience will encourage more youngsters to consider joining our youth club as well as show them how much fun it is to take part in duathlon.”
Entry to the Youth Aquathlon is £10 per child plus a £1 Triathlon England Day Licence fee. All children must be registered in advance as no entries are allowed on the day. Entry is online at www.chippenhamtri.org.uk/tristars-youth. The race is limited to 100 participants, so early entry is recommended to avoid disappointment. All finishers will receive a medal and prizes will be given for the winner.
