ARTICULATION PRIZE 2020 REGIONAL HEAT WIN FOR NEW COLLEGE STUDENT
Marianne Whiting represented New College at the ARTiculation Prize regional heat on Mon 10th Feb at Salisbury New Art Centre. After a successful presentation, Marianne is through to the next round and will represent the College in the Southern Final on March 9th at the Ashmolean Museum.
The ARTiculation Prize takes place in 8 regions in England. Each region holds a Regional Final and supporting outreach workshops, called Discovery Days, in partnership with museums, galleries and universities.
Marianne's presentation was about a medieval painting called the Wilton Diptych and she had to speak for ten minutes and ask questions from the audience.
New College Lecturer, Russell Maggs said: “She was superb. The prize is great in that gives our learners the opportunity to speak in a public arena on a topic of their choice. It is a real challenge for our learners and as they compete they get to express their views and at the same time develop their confidence and presentation skills against strong and prestigious opposition.”
